Its been a long time...

I haven't been able to log into my blogger account for the last couple of weeks. I guess one of the viruses our computer has gotten (one of many), is one that blocks blogger and google. Its been a pain--I hate computer viruses.

Last weekend my aunt and uncle moved to a new home, just 3 blocks away from their previous home. I went after working a night shift and joined the rest of my Hewlett family to help. Here are a few pictures from the event..
Kennedy flying Aaron's kite.
I could not believe how high Aaron got his kite (this is not a picture of the highest it got).
Aaron--he chipped bone off his femur during a football game, so he wasn't able to help move things and instead entertained all of us.
Shawn and Zack putting together Megan's bed frame (I helped too :)
Justin and Mike--I didn't realize on my little camera screen that their eyes were closed or I would have retaken it cause otherwise its a fun picture.
These cute little girls must have been having some fun. My mom or aunt ran off with my camera to catch them in the act.

This is my favorite part of the move---we had to transfer the trampoline. We all took a side and carried it down the street and around the corner to the new house. We thought we were pretty funny looking to everyone who drove by.
As we were walking I was trying to help carry and snap some pictures. I took several pictures but most of them didn't turn out great as the frame of the trampoline kept knocking the button to take the picture without focusing first..this is one of the few that turned out. Cute Megan.
Adam and Ben--"why are they on they same side?" my uncle Spencer kept asking as they are the two with the big muscles.

I got a new calling--primary pianist. I'm going to be switching off with another lady in the ward. Now I really need to buy a piano (I've been browsing for one on KSL and looked at a few over the last couple of months). Zak was given a calling and then was called and told they had another calling in mind--we're curious to see what it will be. The 2nd counselor asked Zak today if anyone had called him about it yet. He had been the one that had talked to us before about our callings so now we're wondering who he was referring to.

This weekend our ward had EFA (especially for adults) and had classes and a fireside. It was a great event and the fireside that was presented by Bishop Norton was wonderfully prepared. He talked about image and how much we care about what people think of us. He pulled out a picture of Pres. Hinckley and asked us to say a few things that come to our mind as we looked at his picture--Integrity, humor, love, humility, were just a few that were said. The Bishop went on to describe Pres. Hinckley as being transparent--his image portrayed what he is on the inside because of how he was. He then asked what our image would portray of us. Would it portray our good intentions? Those characterisitcs that Pres. Hinckley lived? I loved his comparison to a prophet that I love dearly. I know that I have many faults and many areas of my life that I need to improve, but I hope that I can better live the way that I want to be remembered and thought of. I'm so grateful for good examples in my life and a Heavenly Father that loves me despite all my many faults. I'm grateful for the atonement and the knowledge that I can be forgiven. I know the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is true--and as my old seminary teacher had us say everyday: The church is true, I love you, and I'm a child of God no matter what!

Pantry Closet Complete

Its sad that I remember to take pictures of a stupid closet but fail to take pictures of the people I love who helped us with this project...thanks to Marlene, Ben M., my mom, Ben, and especially my Dad for spending FHE fixing our shelves!
The picture above is what it looked like after Zak pulled out the old, small shelves. I bought the materials to make the new ones but we found the closet was not square like you would expect--they narrowed in the back and so there had to be special attention in sawing to make them fit...and it turned out great!
This is our finished product--huge shelves and wood at the bottom so we can utilize the space above the stairs...
...to hold our canned items.
Another one of my goals was to get this stair hung. Goal accomplished thanks to Zak and my dad. This star I bought with Ashley Griggs. It had a piece of it chipped and not well-fitted so I got it on sale for $13. Thanks again to my family for helping complete some of my projects. How about next week for FHE we paint my bathroom? :)

Recent and continuing projects...

I had these frames in the DI pile but Zak told me to hang onto them--I'm glad he did because this is what I did to them...
I painted and sanded them to match how I want to decorate in our room...my next problem---what to put in them. We already have too many pictures of the 2 of us that our house looks like a shrine!
This is my next completed project...shelves in my closet. I wish I had taken a before picture to show the wasted space, it was too hard to see clothes back in there and I wanted shelves for my pants...with alittle help on one shelf from Zak, I finished this project in a few hours...
There are 3 shelves for my clothes and Zak helped with the shelf at the very top to make use of the space in line with the big shelf that goes across the whole closet...
I know its weird, but I'm very excited about it and had to be the one to show my family. Haha.
And this is our next project that should be completed tonight. We do not have a pantry--one of the down sides to the house. The family before us turned the coat closet by the kitchen, into a small pantry. I wanted to make more use of the space and so we are putting in bigger shelves so we can store more items.

While the project has been in progress, this is what our front room has looked like, or as Zak calls it, our large pantry :)

The Joke

This 19 inch TV I got Zak for his birthday because he kept having to go out into the living room to fall asleep to the tv--so this one was so he would at least fall asleep in bed. It used to sit on our dresser and it looked just fine. Since we moved, the guy who owned the house before us had the whole house wired for tvs to be mounted on the wall. Zak mounted this little tv and since then we have gotten nothing but teasing from my brother and cousins. Its kind of become the joke and everyone quotes Michael Scott on The Office and stands really close to the tv so they can "see" the picture. :)

I had to throw in this picture--my brother and sister went into the MTC together. Carter is now out in Washington while Sara has a few weeks more of the MTC before she flies out to Indonesia.Sara asked me to do a blog for her. If you want to read her e-mails or see the pictures she's sent home to us, you can see her blog link under "family." I'm so proud of these two and miss them a lot. I'm glad Ben is still home :)
